I'd definitely support the inclusion of this with FlightGear, given the WIP
A320Family, which could benefit. Perhaps the shaking translate animation we
have may help.
Post by Bertrand CoconnierHi Wayne,
All the code is in place, at least on the C++ side. I still need to commit
2 patches to FGData but it seems my commit rights to FG have been withdrawn
for some reason.
So I have attached 2 patches to this e-mail. One of the patch adds options
to the AI->AI traffic and scenarios dialog to set the wake interaction
parameters. The other patch adds the force and moment induced by the wake
to the c172p FDM.
By default the AI wake interaction is disabled so you have to check the
button in the AI scenario dialog to enable the feature. The same result can
be obtained by setting the property /fdm/ai-wake/enabled to true.
Note also that the location of the wake induced force is supposed to be at
the leading edge of the wing center (i.e. at y=0). It tried to estimate
that location for the c172p based on data I could gather from FGData but if
you can come up with a better estimation, feel free to update the values.
For test purposes I was using the following command line to spawn the
c172p just in front of the tanker so that the effect of the tanker wake can
fgfs --disable-real-weather-fetch --airport=KSFO
--ai-scenario=refueling_demo --lat=37.62323 --lon=-122.38033
--altitude=2950 --heading=198 --vc=100 --prop:/fdm/ai-wake/enabled=true
--enable-freeze
Bertrand.
Post by Wayne BraggI noticed a while back there was a commit to fgdata, I think it was, of
at least a portion of the new "aircraft wake or turbulence effect". Does
anyone know if that is in place now and available to implement in say the
c172p? If so, any docs?
Thanks,
Wayne
